Its windows overlook these two elegant streets, as well as the marvellous Palazzo Strozzi. During the 19th century tourists both Italian and foreign began to flock in great numbers to Florence, attracted by the beauty of its art, by its pleasant climate and by the green hills that surround it. Via Tornabuoni was Florence's drawing-room, indeed the drawing-room of Europe. Many of the aristocratic palazzos that line the street were converted into hotels, cafès and tea rooms for the benefit of the visitors. The ALBERGOTTO continues the tradition of the 'casa albergo', dating from the days when it was appreciated and frequented by famous visitors such as Verdi, Donizzetti, Gounaud and George Eliot (to whom there is a plaque on the façade). For a time the palazzo reverted to being a private residence, but after the Second War (when the Martelli family went to live in their country house) it re-opened as a hotel. Recently the ALBERGOTTO has been carefully restructured and restored by the Martelli family. Guests will find rooms equipped with every modern comfort, elegantly furnished with antique furniture (including family heirlooms), each one different from all the others, quiet and with delightful views. The ALBERGOTTO is within easy walking-distance of the principle museums, churches and historic monuments. Das ALBERGOTTO liegt im Herzen von Florenz, in der via de' Tornabuoni, an der Ecke zur via della Vigna Nuova. Seine Fenster überblicken diese eleganten Straßen, sowie den großartigen Palazzo Strozzi. Im 19. Jahrhundert begannen Touristen, sowohl aus Italien, als auch anderen Ländern, nach Florenz zu kommen, angelockt von der Schönheit seiner Kunst, seinem angenehmen Klima und den grünen Bergen, die es umgeben. Die Via Tornabuoni war der Salon von Florenz, ja sogar Europas. Viele der Adelspaläste entlang der Straße wurden zur Freude der Besucher in Hotels, Cafès und Teehäuser umgewandelt. Das ALBERGOTTO folgt der Tradition der 'casa albergo', die einstmals von berühmten Gästen wie Verdi, Donizzetti, Gounaud und George Eliot (an den eine Plakette an der Fassade erinnert) besucht wurde. Für eine gewisse Zeit wurde der Palazzo wieder in eine private Residenz umgewandelt, nach dem 2. Weltkrieg jedoch (als die Familie Martelli in ihr Landhaus zog) eröffnete es wieder als Hotel. Erst kürzlich wurde das ALBERGOTTO behutsam von der Familie Martelli renoviert und umgebaut. Seine Gäste werden Zimmer mit modernster Ausstattung und antiker Möblierung (inklusive Familienerbstücken) vorfinden, jedes einzigartig, ruhig und mit entzückender Aussicht.
