The Craggaunowen Bronze Age project at Quin is a reconstruction of a bronze age site with prehistoric lake dwellings; early Christian ring fort; Iron Age roadway and the replica of the Brendan; the 6th century vessel. Across the bay is Galway where the city centre has many narrow winding streets which are perfect for exploring on foot. Places to visit in the city include Eyre Square; the Latin Quarter; including Shop Street with its cosmopolitan shops and cafes; and Lynch's Castle which is the grandest 16th century house in the city. Where the River Corrib widens out to meet Galway Bay; there is the Spanish Arch which was built in 1584 to protect the harbour. The old quays and Long Walk are the prefect place for an evening stroll. The award-winning restaurant overlooking Galway Bay offers fine steaks and seafood.
