The castle was built in 1425; and authentically restored in the 1950s to its former medieval splendour; with furniture and tapestries capturing the mood and style of the times. Recreated medieval banquets are held in the castle. The adjacent Folk Park is a meticulous recreation of life in rural Ireland. Nearby; the 13th century King John's Castle provides an imaginative historical exhibition; multi-vision show; excavated early Norman houses and battlement walks. O' Brien's Tower which was constructed in the early l9th century as a viewing point for Victorian tourists is located on Moher's highest cliffs.
