In 1860 the building which represents the neo classical and Liberty style was erected by the well-known architect Barabino for the Marquis Serra family. This project was intended to meet the necessities of the new developing bourgeouse already at the time ( as well as today, there was a private bathroom in every room). Genoa responded by combining the sober austerity of the neo-classical style with the floreal ornaments of the Liberty style. The inside reflects the elegant atmosphere that welcomes the visitors, and the reception, the hall, the restaurant (wchic now has become as the breakfast room) and the elavator emphatize the elegant and clear design of the building. The rooms ( all with a private bathroom) many of wich still appear in the original elegant design, the imperial suite on the fist floor wich represents the era of the monarchy, the lobby with the ceiling decoreted with frescos together with the renovated rooms are located on six floor reflect the classica elegance of Genoa. The hotel has 69 rooms all with bath, hairdryer, Tv sat, telephon, and minibar all the rooms are completely renowed on 1999. At disposal of our guests, garage service, landry service. Barabino, un'imponente struttura forgiata nell'impasto degli stili pi¨ lontani fra loro: il neo classico ( neo rinascimentale neo gotico) ed il Liberty. Colui che progett= tutto questo, seppe magistralmente interpretare le esigenze di una classe borghese emergente (giÓ all'epoca come ora ogni camera aveva il suo bagno), e Genova doveva rispondere con il "suo" linguaggio pi¨ efficace. La sobria austeritÓ neo classica provava a lambire il fascino floreale, quasi effimero, del Liberty. L'interno riflette coerentemente lo spirito elegante di chi pensava di accogliere raffinati frequentatori di alberghi e la reception, la hall, la Limonaia, ora sala convegni, il ristorante ora sala colazioni, il Bar, l'ascensore, delineano l'elegante tratto deciso della struttura. Le camere, tutte con il proprio bagno, molte delle quali ancora fedeli nell'elegante abito originale, la suite imperiale al piano primo, grande testimone di fasti legati all'epoca monarchica, i saloni di disimpegno con i soffitti affrescati, insieme alle camere restaurate, di pi¨ fresca concezione, si distendono in sei piani, l'ultimo dei quali porta la firma classica di Genova con le sue accoglienti mansarde fra i tetti e il cielo. L'hotel Astoria dispone di 69 camere di cui 65 doppie, 3 suite, 1 singola tutte con bagno munito di phon, tv satellite, telefono diretto, frigobar.
